Google and Emoticons
2005
in collaboration with Alexia Tsotsis
Costumes and Mixed Media
1st Art Parade, Dietch Projects, New York.

So it was the First Art Parade In the city and over 100 people in costumes walked down the closed streets of Soho. We put together a nice group applied with an idea, got accepted and paraded too! Very exciting , plus we thought to be bringing the World Wide Web to the Streets!

We choose to represent Google, Yahoo and the simple emoticons from the keyboard :) the coolest ;)
because these ideas turn-corporation arched back from the computer into the urban scale may as well be representing all of us suffering from computer civility.
Our posse included about 10 friends
(Valeria Cordero, Alejandra Villasmil, Cory, Mathew...Scott, okay more like 6 friends)
.

We wore emoticon masks Alexia and I made. Alexia and I tired to look like Google and Yahoo by going fosforescent, not pictured here, we added googly eyes, paint and makeup to that.

We also sported American Apparel-sponsored white dresses which was also fun, just because how often do you get a clothing store owner on the phone telling his manager “hey give these girls what they need” (alexini style). Once we were out on the street, one of the best things was to walk right behind Yoko Ono’s VISUALIZE PEACE.
